ESSS O&G receives Plínio Cantanhede Award in the category of Digital Transformation

ESSS O&G has received the Plínio Cantanhede award in the Digital Transformation category at the Rio Oil & Gas 2022 event for the technical paper A new application for SCAL & PVT to manage, analyze, simulate & integrate data throughout the rock and fluid characterization workflow presented by Vinicius Girardi, Technology Development Manager at ESSS O&G.

At the event, Girardi demonstrated how the RF-DAP platform is a digital solution that allows engineers to store, organize, and manage experimental data digitally in the cloud. It also enables data auditing, backup, and access control, bringing confidence to the results achieved in the lab.

RF-DAP creates a collaborative environment for laboratory technicians and modeling experts in their daily activities through the integration of experimental and numerical workflows. This digital solution was created in partnership with Shell and is part of the Research, Development and Innovation program of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).

The award was granted by the Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute (IBP) at the Rio Oil & Gas international congress, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, from September 26 to 29. More than 58 thousand professionals from the oil and gas and energy industry from several countries were there to discuss the most important topics in the sector.

The Plínio Cantanhede Award acknowledges the best works presented in events held by IBP, through a judging panel that analyzes according to the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the development of the oil, natural gas and biofuels industry
  • Applicability in the segment
  • Economic and/or social relevance of applications performed or potential as a result of the work

Aside from the paper that introduces RF-DAP, ESSS O&G team had three other presentations:

  • At the Galp booth, Vinícius Girardi presented the services that are part of the ANP’s Research, Development & Innovation program. The solutions are aimed at predicting and mitigating flow assurance problems through computational simulation with ALFAsim and digital twins.
  • The Paper Digital twin of producing wells and its contribution to the increase of efficiency and operational safety was presented by Maycon Vieira dos Santos, Oil and Gas Specialist at ESSS O&G. He demonstrated an application of ALFAtwin technology, developed in partnership with Petrobras, to digitize assets and analyze data obtained in real-time to ensure the structural integrity of wells.
  • Bruno Alexandre Contessi, Business Development at ESSS, presented the paper Digital twins based on computer simulation for predictive maintenance with examples of how to create reliable simulation models for predictive digital twins.
